Job Summary

Lead, coach, mentor, and train asphalt paving field crews while maintaining safe, productive, and high-quality field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and allocate asphalt crew activities according to project plans and production requirements.
  • Manage assigned crews, including scheduling, daily work assignments, and field coordination.
  • Manage job materials and work within assigned budgets and production timeframes.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and champion a strong culture of safety at all times.
  • Monitor and report daily labor hours, materials, and equipment usage.
  • Complete required field documentation, including Daily Project Reports, accident investigations, expense tracking, and absence reporting.
  • Complete employee performance evaluations as required.
  • Lead a diverse workforce and provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making in changing field conditions.
  • Perform additional jobsite duties as needed to support safe and efficient completion of the work.

    Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of construction experience, with strong asphalt paving experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of asphalt paving.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to speak, read, and write effectively in both languages.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop field crews.
  • Ability to measure quantities, order materials, and calculate paving yields.
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach safe and proper equipment operation.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions when inspecting or supporting equipment and field operations.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, sleet, and snow.
  • Regular work near moving mechanical equipment and exposure to dust, concrete, asphalt, and elevated noise levels.
  • Required use of appropriate PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, and high-visibility vest.
