Housekeeper – Independent Living

Allegria Village is a senior living community in Dearborn that features Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing, all on one campus.

We are currently hiring for a part-time Housekeeper in Independent Living.

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Requirements
  • 1 year of housekeeping experience required.

  • Previous experience in a senior living or healthcare setting is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail.

  • Ability to safely operate housekeeping equipment and handle cleaning products and chemicals.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout the Independent Living community. Responsibilities include:

  • Clean and maintain common areas throughout the community, including bathrooms, corridors, lobbies, dining areas, and other shared spaces.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and otherwise clean floors, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces as needed.

  • Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment, including vacuums, polishers, buffers, and other housekeeping equipment.

  • Provide housekeeping services in residents’ apartments when specifically requested, including cleaning bathrooms, floors, surfaces, and other areas as needed.

  • Clean and prepare vacant resident apartments prior to a new resident’s move-in, ensuring the space is clean, sanitary, and ready for occupancy.

  • Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, windowsills, air vents, and other surfaces.

  • Empty trash containers and dispose of trash, waste, and other disposable materials appropriately.

  • Wet mop floors in resident apartments and bathrooms and damp mop corridor floors, lobbies, dining areas, and other common spaces as scheduled.

  • Wash windows as scheduled.

  • Maintain the community in a sanitary and infection-free condition through proper cleaning and disinfection practices.

  • Report needed repairs or maintenance concerns promptly to the supervisor, including issues such as leaking faucets or toilets, loose tiles, broken windows, damaged furnishings, or other safety concerns.

  • Follow all safety precautions and applicable regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and State Health Department requirements.

  • Properly handle and use cleaning solvents, chemicals, and other housekeeping supplies.

  • Work safely in damp, dusty, and dirty environments and respond appropriately to situations requiring cleanup of bodily fluids or other waste.

  • Plan and organize work to ensure assigned housekeeping tasks are completed efficiently and thoroughly.

  • Perform other housekeeping duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform physical housekeeping duties throughout the workday. The Housekeeper must be able to stand and move continuously, walk, bend, stoop, reach, sit, push, pull, lift, and carry as needed. The position requires the ability to lift and/or carry 50–75 pounds and work in a variety of environmental conditions, including damp, dusty, and dirty areas.
