About This Role

We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Infant & Toddler Teacher to join our team at the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden. This key role involves leading our Infant & Toddler classroom (ages 6 weeks–2.8 years old) and collaborating with our team to create a nurturing environment that fosters children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

This position is approximately 30–35 hours per week and offers a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our youngest learners.



What You'll Do

We're looking for someone who can:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the unique needs of each child, while maintaining a structured and responsive classroom environment

  • Supervise and support our team of dedicated staff, ensuring a collaborative and productive work environment

  • Communicate effectively with families, keeping them informed about their child's progress and development

  • Observe and record developmental milestones, celebrating the successes of our children

  • Ensure our program adheres to all relevant licensing and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our children

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must pass a background check and fingerprinting

  • First Aid & CPR certification is a plus

  • Medication Administration training is a plus

  • Experience working with infants and toddlers

  • Knowledge or experience with NAEYC accreditation standards is a plus

  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills

  • CDA or a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required


Nice To Haves

While not required, candidates with the following qualifications would be a great fit:

  • Possessing a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field would be an asset

  • Experience working with infants and toddlers would be a valuable asset to our team

  • Outstanding leadership, organizational, and communication skills would be a great asset in this role

  • Must be willing to undergo a background check and fingerprinting

  • First Aid & CPR certification, as well as Medication Administration training, would be a bonus

  • Familiarity with NAEYC accreditation standards would be a valuable asset to our team

Our four core programs include Afterschool Programming, Summer Camps, Youth Recreation, and The Learning Center Preschool.

The preschool program at the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden provides care for children ages 3–5 years old and promotes positive relationships among all children and adults. Our curriculum is consistent with its goals for children and promotes development and learning in the following areas: social, physical, emotional, cognitive and language. The program uses culturally, developmentally, and linguistically appropriate effective teaching approaches. Systematic, informal and formal assessments provide feedback on each child’s learning and development. We employ and support a teaching staff with the educational qualifications, professional commitment and knowledge necessary to promote children’s learning and development. We establish and maintain collaborative relationships with each child’s family to foster their development in all settings. The program has a healthful and safe environment that provides appropriate and well-maintained outdoor and indoor physical activities.
