Elementary Teacher

The Elementary Teacher, reporting to the Building Principal, is responsible for delivering high-impact instruction across K–8th grade, advancing a culture of academic growth, curiosity, and whole-child development. This role supports a rigorous learning environment aligned with district and state standards while fostering strong student engagement and collaborative school culture.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate and compliance with all state requirements
  • Recent instructional experience at or near the grade level and subject area preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to meet district expectations and performance standards
  • Satisfactory background and fingerprinting clearance for all external candidates

Core Responsibilities
  1. Deliver instruction aligned with district and state curriculum and assessment requirements.
  2. Maintain a satisfactory performance record based on the most recent evaluation.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of current curriculum trends and contribute to curriculum development at building and district levels.
  4. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support cohesive instructional practice.
  5. Apply relevant teaching experience to strengthen instructional outcomes.
  6. Utilize instructional technology effectively or commit to rapid skill development.
  7. Implement cooperative learning strategies and differentiated instruction consistently.
  8. Integrate higher-order thinking skills into daily lessons.
  9. Use structured writing processes, including expository writing, to strengthen learning.
  10. Apply interdisciplinary approaches to support connected, engaging instruction.
  11. Follow all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines, and building regulations.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Special Education Administrator.
  13. Maintain classroom discipline in alignment with school expectations.
  14. Use formative, summative, and interim assessment data to guide instruction.
  15. Create classroom assessments that accurately measure student proficiency.
  16. Provide targeted support to students who are behind or struggling.
  17. Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress and needs.
  18. Manage student behavior through consistent routines, rules, and expectations.
  19. Collaborate with fellow teachers to develop lesson plans and improve instructional effectiveness.
  20. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  21. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional materials that promote active learning and align with Michigan standards and school curriculum goals.

Working Conditions
This position requires emotional composure, adaptability, and strong daily attendance. Physical responsibilities may include standing, bending, lifting instructional materials, and organizing classroom equipment.

Terms of Employment
  • Salary: $45,000–$60,000
  • Type of Assignment: Full-time with benefits
  • Schedule: Based on academic calendar and building requirements
