Recreation Therapy Assistant
Job Description
Thrive Behavioral Hospital is seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Therapy Assistant to support our therapeutic programming and enhance the daily experience of our patients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people, facilitating activities, and contributing to a healing, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Recreation Therapist in planning and facilitating therapeutic group and individual activities
Lead recreational, social, and leisure-based programs that support patient treatment goals
Encourage patient participation while ensuring safety and appropriate engagement
Set up, organize, and maintain activity spaces and supplies
Observe and document patient participation and progress as needed
Collaborate with clinical and nursing teams to support overall patient care
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience working in behavioral health, psychiatric, or healthcare settings preferred
Background in recreation, psychology, kinesiology, social work, or related fields is a plus
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to engage individuals with varying mental health needs in a supportive manner
Must be dependable, patient, and team-oriented
