Retail Shift Lead

Location: Hollywood, CA
Starting Pay: $19.50/hour
Schedule: Nights, weekends, and select afternoon shifts

MMD Hollywood is looking for a dependable, experienced Retail Manager to join our leadership team. This position is ideal for someone with cannabis industry experience who understands how to lead a team, maintain strong store operations, and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

As a member of management, you will help oversee daily store operations, support and coach employees, maintain compliance standards, and ensure the store operates efficiently and professionally throughout your shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support budtenders and other team members throughout the shift
• Open and/or close the store as scheduled
• Maintain a professional, organized, and customer-focused sales floor
• Assign daily responsibilities and ensure operational tasks are completed
• Coach employees on customer service, product knowledge, sales performance, and company procedures
• Handle customer concerns and resolve issues professionally
• Perform cash handling duties, including register management, cash counts, drawer reconciliation, and safe management
• Monitor transactions and ensure proper cash-handling procedures are followed
• Support inventory accuracy and proper product handling
• Maintain compliance with California cannabis regulations and company policies
• Verify that employees follow ID verification, purchase-limit, and other compliance procedures
• Assist with receiving, merchandising, restocking, and maintaining product displays
• Communicate operational issues, employee concerns, inventory discrepancies, and other important information to senior management
• Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming store environment
• Set the standard for professionalism, accountability, attendance, and teamwork

Qualifications

• Previous cannabis industry experience required
• Strong working knowledge of cannabis products, including flower, concentrates, vapes, edibles, and other common product categories
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
• Previous retail cash-handling experience required
• Comfortable managing multiple registers and reconciling cash
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to lead, coach, and hold team members accountable
• Ability to remain organized and make sound decisions in a high-volume retail environment
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of the importance of cannabis compliance
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when necessary
• Must be 21 years of age or older

Schedule Requirements

This position is primarily intended to strengthen our leadership coverage during nights and weekends, with some afternoon shifts as needed.

Candidates must have:

• Strong weekend availability
• Evening/night availability
• Availability for select afternoon shifts
• Flexibility to support the needs of the business during high-volume periods, promotions, holidays, and special events

Starting Pay: $19.50/hour
