What You'll Do

  • Develop children's social and emotional skills by encouraging empathy and self-awareness.
  • Ensure a clean and healthy environment by sanitizing toys and equipment.
  • Monitor children's behavior and emotional well-being, and discreetly bring any concerns to parents' attention.
  • Supervise and engage with children during playtime, taking note of their interests and activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of each child's daily experiences, including meals, medications, and notable events.
  • Teach children essential life skills, such as hygiene, mealtime routines, and rest schedules.
  • Share engaging stories, demonstrate art techniques, and lead fun activities to stimulate children's creativity.
  • Organize and store materials and toys in a manner that promotes efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain a secure and hazard-free play area.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about daily events, behaviors, and any issues that may arise.
  • Contribute to meal preparation and serving, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Manage children's rest periods and create a soothing atmosphere for relaxation.
  • Support administrative tasks, such as attendance, paperwork, and phone calls.
  • Plan and participate in recreational activities, outings, and events that promote socialization and bonding.
  • Provide comfort, support, and affection to children who may be feeling distressed or overwhelmed.
  • Design and prepare lesson plans that cater to individual children's needs and interests.
  • Prepare and manage materials needed for lesson plans.
  • Assist with diaper changes and potty training, ensuring a seamless transition to independence.
  • Maintain a consistent daily routine that promotes a sense of security and stability.
  • Ensure the safe administration of food and snacks.
  • Share stories, sing songs, and engage in interactive activities that promote faith and spirituality.
  • Offer physical affection, such as hugs, smiles, and cuddles, to promote emotional well-being.
  • Demonstrate kindness, patience, and enthusiasm in all interactions with children.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, responding to changing circumstances and unexpected needs.
  • Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Keep parents informed about their child's daily experiences and adventures.
  • Join in praise and worship with children, promoting a sense of community and faith.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the playroom and center.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a spotless and well-organized environment.


Requirements

  • Must pass all screening requirements as per DSS, and undergo a thorough background check.
  • All staff must have completed the equivalent of a high school diploma, and commit to obtaining 15 hours of continuing education annually.
  • At least 6 months of experience working in a childcare setting is preferred.


  • Nice To Haves

    Possession of Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification is highly valued.
