The Teacher plays a pivotal role in shaping young minds, implementing educational curricula, and ensuring a stimulating classroom environment where children can thrive. To succeed in this role, a deep understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development is essential. Effective communication with both children and adults is vital to meeting the needs of the children, guiding teacher assistants, and resolving parental concerns.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement educational curricula that align with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards by creating engaging classroom activities.
- Lead by example, foster a team environment, and empower teaching team members to achieve success through coaching and mentoring.
- Plan and execute individual and group activities that cater to children's age-specific needs, encouraging social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Maintain regular communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences to keep them informed and engaged.
- Ensure that all center policies and state regulations are upheld and followed.
- Establish a healthy and safe classroom environment by adhering to hygiene and cleanliness standards and maintaining the security and well-being of children.
- Supervise and guide teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, safety protocols, and hygiene standards.
- Keep accurate records, forms, and files up to date and organized.
- Prioritize continuous professional growth by maintaining a personal development plan to enhance quality and excellence.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE.
- Meet the physical demands of the job, which include frequent walking, using hands and fingers, handling objects, tools or controls, talking and hearing at various levels. May also require kneeling, bending, squatting, or crawling.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
