About This Role
Precious Time Child Development Center is looking for a safe, dependable, and responsible Van Driver to join our team!
Our Van Drivers play an important role in helping children get safely to and from participating elementary schools and our center. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, professional, and enjoys working around children.
What You'll Do
- Safely transport children to and from participating elementary schools and the center.
- Follow assigned transportation routes and schedules.
- Conduct required vehicle safety checks before and after transportation.
- Follow all applicable Virginia childcare transportation and safety requirements.
- Maintain a safe, calm, and positive environment while children are in the vehicle.
- Assist children with safely entering and exiting the vehicle.
- Complete required transportation and attendance documentation.
- Communicate professionally with teachers, center leadership, school personnel, and families.
- Report transportation concerns, vehicle issues, incidents, or changes in schedule to administration.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the center vehicle.
- Follow all center policies and procedures regarding child supervision and transportation.
- Help ensure every child arrives at their destination safely and on time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Previous experience driving children or working in a childcare/school environment is preferred.
- Ability to meet all Virginia requirements for transporting children.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation to and from work.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- Patient, responsible, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to remain attentive and safety-focused at all times.
- Ability to pass required background checks, driving record checks, and health screening.
- Genuine desire to provide a safe and positive experience for children.
