About the Role:
U.S. Pipe is seeking a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler for our Lynchburg, VA location. This facility is a heavy industrial manufacturing operation.
Maintenance Planners play a critical role by coordinating with the rest of the Maintenance Leadership Team through; scheduling work, planning weekend and shutdown jobs and projects, working with vendors to secure services and parts, controlling workflow through or CMMS program, and working with purchasing on establishing new inventoried parts. Planners are key contributors to the success of Maintenance operations.
As a Maintenance Planner, you are:
- Responsible for planning Maintenance Department weekend work, coordinating with the Maintenance Leadership team.
- Responsible for Planning Shutdown work, coordinating with Maintenance Leadership team.
- Responsible for controlling the Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual work utilizing our CMMS program.
- Responsible for coordinating with Vendors and Contractors, using the competitive bidding. process, to secure parts and contract work at a favorable cost.
- Responsible for communicating with Production and scheduling requested work.
- Responsible for purchasing and organizing parts, supplies, and equipment required to complete open work orders and Maintenance projects.
- Process work orders, create weekly and daily schedules by area specific to assigned hourly employees.
- Work with Maintenance Leadership to develop and implement preventive maintenance equipment schedules.
- Work with Reliability Engineer to generate reports to monitor maintenance execution, including but not limited to open and completed work order reports, PM Completion %, MTBF, etc. Analyzes CMMS data to develop strategies to improve the cost effectiveness of ongoing maintenance services.
- Work with Reliability Engineer to record and maintain active critical parts equipment lists / files by department.
- Responsible for requesting new items to be stocked in the storeroom.
- Enforces the Company's plant and safety rules and policies and issues fair and consistent discipline. Receives, evaluates, and responds to first-step grievances as required, consulting with the Maintenance Specialist as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum 2 years previous experience in Maintenance Planner role with heavy industrial manufacturing or energy/utilities operation highly desirable.
- Previous trade experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, Millwright, or Machinist.
- Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint software.
- Experience with CMMS systems. Maximo, Maintain X, SAP or similar.
- Must have the ability to plan electrical and mechanical repairs and maintenance work.
- Including the ability to identify and repair electrical and mechanical maintenance problems or administrate corrective action.
- Have an understanding of drawings, and schematics, with ability to identify and order parts from them.
- A commitment and resolve to see upset condition problems through to a favorable end.
- Must be self-leading and possess the communication skills to work in an up-tempo team environment.
- Must be diligent in attacking problems and targets as they arise.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess good critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects while meeting all required deadlines.
Preferred:
- Previous work experience working in a union environment.
- Previous training in Maintenance Reliability fields and familiarity with non-destructive testing processes.
- Certifications or courses in Industrial Maintenance or Project Management.
