About the Role

A&L Foods is looking for a hands-on Shipping Supervisor to lead the daily picking, loading, and shipping operation at our Bensalem distribution center.

This is a player/coach role for someone who can organize a fast-paced outbound operation, keep employees focused on priorities, solve problems before they delay a route, and make sure customer orders leave the warehouse accurately and on time.

You’ll supervise our Shipping Clerks and Loaders/Pickers while working closely with the Inbound Supervisor and Senior Operations Manager to coordinate product availability, dock activity, and daily shipping priorities.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and provide daily direction to Shipping Clerks and Loaders/Pickers.
  • Build the daily plan for picking, staging, loading, and shipment completion based on route departure times and customer requirements.
  • Ensure customer orders are picked and loaded accurately and on time.
  • Monitor order progress throughout the day and adjust labor and priorities as needed.
  • Coordinate outbound dock appointments and dock activity with the Inbound Supervisor.
  • Work with the Inbound Supervisor to make sure required inventory is received, replenished, and available for picking.
  • Monitor shortages and incomplete orders and communicate issues before they impact scheduled departures.
  • Review and process completed loads for shipment.
  • Ensure shipping documentation and load information are completed accurately.
  • Ensure proper food safety, trailer temperature, and temperature-monitoring procedures are followed for refrigerated and frozen shipments.
  • Maintain a safe, organized shipping dock, staging area, and warehouse work environment.
  • Monitor adherence to company safety procedures and proper material-handling practices.
  • Train, coach, cross-train, and develop members of the outbound team.
  • Communicate performance, attendance, safety, shortage, or operational concerns to the Senior Operations Manager.
What We’re Looking For
  • Warehouse, shipping, picking, loading, or distribution experience.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Food, grocery, refrigerated, or frozen distribution experience is a plus.
  • Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and route departure times in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to order accuracy and loading quality.
  • Ability to lead employees while also being willing to jump in and help when needed.
  • Comfortable working with warehouse systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.
  • Strong customer service mindset.
What Success Looks Like

You’ll help create an outbound operation where orders are picked accurately, shortages are identified early, loads are completed correctly, and trucks leave on time—while developing a productive, accountable, and safety-focused warehouse team.

This position provides day-to-day supervision, coaching, training, and work direction.
