We are currently hiring for a position that will support our Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and other rental assistance programs through inspections, compliance monitoring, and customer service. AHA has been a leader in affordable housing in the City of Austin for more than 85 years. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, local government entities, and numerous non-profit agencies, AHA provides access to safe, stable housing to over 20,000 individuals. What you will do in this position:Inspection and Compliance ResponsibilitiesPerform inspections to ensure compliance with HUD's Housing Quality Standards (HQS) for HCV and other rental assistance programsSchedule all HQS inspections using the Elite Inspection ModuleComplete inspections using the Elite HQS Mobile AppConduct annual recertification, initial, and complaint inspections, and report findings to relevant partiesAdvise property owners and managers on deficiencies and compliance deadlinesMonitor repair deadlines and conduct follow-up inspections to ensure completionConduct rent reasonableness analyses for new leases and annual rent changesCustomer Service and CommunicationRespond promptly to inquiries from property managers, partners, and clients by phone or emailProvide clear guidance on program policies and proceduresMaintain positive working relationships with clients and stakeholders Administrative and Reporting DutiesPerform accurate and timely data entryMaintain organized records using the digital file storage systemInform Assisted Housing staff of inspection statuses and non-compliance issues that may require abatement or contract terminationProvide support to the Assisted Housing department as needed and complete other duties as assignedMore about this position:Qualified candidates must possess:High School Diploma or GED; ORTwo years related experience and/or training; OREquivalent combination of education and experience; ANDStrong computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.); ANDWorking knowledge of building maintenance and construction methods.Preferred candidates will also possess the following skills and abilities:Ability to provide compassionate and professional customer service to clientele of diverse backgrounds including people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessnessExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to establish, cultivate, and maintain effective working relationships with external partners, clients, and coworkersKnowledge of HUD programs, regulatory compliance, and the affordable housing industryKnowledge of business English, basic arithmetic, and general office practices and proceduresPhysical Requirement:Combination of indoor facility spaces and outdoor grounds.Regular interaction with mechanical systems, maintenance tools, and transportation equipment.Work Environment:Ability to lift, carry, and move at least 25 lbs.Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, including in varying weather conditions.Capable of standing, walking, bending, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.Benefits:Paid sick leave, annual leave, birthday leave & federal holidays 100% of employee health insurance premiums paid by the agencySupplemental health, dental, vision, and life insurance options for employees and familyEmployee Assistance ProgramFor a more detailed description of our compensation/benefits offered, go to the following website: https://austinha.org/about-us/careersAPPLICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT: Application for the open posted position must be submitted via online at the following website: https://austinha.org/about-us/careers However, we will accept applications at Austin Housing Authority, 1124 S.
