Work Setting: Denver Metro Area with an initial emphasis on in-person presence; longer-term hybrid flexibility may be available

Travel: Limited travel, primarily occasional visits to regional offices and professional or industry events

Compensation: $190,000 to $200,000 with discretionary bonus opportunity

Position Summary

A well-established, privately held organization is conducting a confidential search for a Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team and serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer.

The organization has a strong accounting and financial foundation and is seeking a finance leader who can elevate the strategic capabilities of the function. This individual will help strengthen financial planning and analysis, forecasting, business planning, operational performance, and executive decision support while providing leadership and oversight to the accounting and finance organization.

This is not simply an accounting oversight position. The CFO will be expected to understand the financial details of the business while maintaining an enterprise-level perspective, proactively identifying opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, financial visibility, and long-term organizational performance.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative leadership team and will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organization's financial strategy, operational performance, systems and processes, and future growth.


Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic financial advisor and collaborative business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team

• Participate actively in company-wide strategic planning and significant business decisions

• Provide leadership and executive oversight of the organization's finance and accounting functions

• Strengthen financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and analytical capabilities

• Develop forward-looking financial reporting, dashboards, and key performance indicators that improve executive and operational decision-making

• Partner with operational leaders to evaluate financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency

• Translate financial information into actionable recommendations for both financial and non-financial leaders

• Oversee financial reporting, cash management, banking relationships, tax coordination, insurance-related financial matters, and internal controls

• Evaluate capital investments, major expenditures, financing alternatives, and other significant financial decisions

• Lead and improve the annual business planning and budgeting processes

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage technology, automation, and financial systems to increase organizational efficiency

• Evaluate, develop, and optimize the finance and accounting team, organizational structure, and capabilities

• Maintain productive relationships with external accounting, banking, insurance, and other professional partners

• Provide financial leadership and analysis related to potential acquisitions, strategic transactions, or other growth opportunities as they arise

• Identify emerging financial risks, trends, and opportunities and proactively bring recommendations to executive leadership


Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline

• Significant progressive accounting and finance experience with meaningful senior-level leadership responsibility

• Strong understanding of both financial accounting and strategic finance

• Demonstrated experience with financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial modeling

• Experience partnering with CEOs, executive teams, or senior operational leaders to improve business performance

• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and improve accounting and finance teams

• Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, cash management, banking, and other core corporate finance responsibilities

• Experience developing and utilizing financial and operational KPIs to support business decisions

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities

• Excellent executive-level communication and interpersonal skills

• High degree of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation and/or advanced degree such as an MBA

• Previous experience as a Chief Financial Officer, VP of Finance, or comparable senior financial executive

• Experience within a privately held organization

• Experience supporting a multi-location or operationally complex business

• Experience analyzing operational profitability and developing forward-looking performance metrics

• Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, including transaction analysis, financial due diligence, integration, or coordination with outside advisors

• Experience improving ERP systems, financial reporting tools, analytics, automation, or other finance technology

• Experience leading organizational or process improvement initiatives within a finance and accounting function
