About This Role

This position oversees the supervision and management of a class of children, reporting directly to the Director. The individual will provide instruction and nurturing to the children and oversee the activities of assigned assistants or volunteers.



What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute lesson plans to meet the needs of assigned children, setting clear goals and objectives
  • Maintain a comprehensive portfolio on each child, tracking their progress and development
  • Collaborate with the Preschool's policies and philosophy to plan, supervise, and implement an engaging program for the class
  • Adapt the program to meet the unique needs, interests, and learning styles of each child
  • Establish and maintain open communication channels with families of assigned children, ensuring they are informed and involved
  • Regularly update families through Brightwheel messaging and/or class newsletters
  • Conduct scheduled parent-teacher conferences to address child development and progress
  • Ensure the classroom environment is well-organized, visually appealing, and conducive to learning
  • Participate in a minimum of 25 hours of professional development in early childhood education each school year
  • Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings and functions, demonstrating loyalty to the Preschool
  • Exhibit professionalism, treating each child with dignity and respect
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Preschool management


Requirements

The Lead Teacher must have a college degree, CDA, community college certificate, and/or extensive job experience in early childhood education. This individual should possess a warm and friendly demeanor, be empathetic, and able to effectively communicate with both children and adults. They must be willing to adhere to the school's educational philosophy, curriculum guidelines, and classroom procedures. Lead Teachers should be able to lift at least 30 pounds and pass a satisfactory background check as a condition of employment.



Nice To Haves

The ideal candidate would have experience working with young children and a passion for early childhood education. Familiarity with Brightwheel and a creative approach to lesson planning would be assets to the team.

About Us

First Presbyterian Preschool is hiring for the 2025-2026 school year. Positions available include lead teacher and assistant teacher, two to five days a week. The ideal candidate must possess a passion for teaching young children in a play-based preschool setting. FPP is accredited through the Associate for Early Learning Leaders and upholds their standards while using the Creative Curriculum as guidance for lessons. Potential schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm during the school year, with the possibility for additional hours from 8:00am - 2:00pm.
