Radius Aerospace– Shelbyville is a leading manufacturer of sheet metal parts and assemblies used in the aviation industry. We utilize a wide range of metal forming techniques and special manufacturing processes, servicing the commercial, military, regional jet, helicopter, and general aviation markets.

Position Summary

The production supervisor plans and directs employee schedules, training, and general work. Motivate and inspire team members for optimum performance in ways that comply with the company’s plans and vision. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence individual and team plans and schedules. Set performance goals and monitor progress and actions towards goals. Train new hires, manage daily production schedules, and resolve disputes between employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • While utilizing technical expertise, works closely with all departments to delivery goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity
  • Using data analysis and manufacturing engineering techniques, troubleshoots manufacturing processes and develops ways to reduce variability in those processes to increase proficiency.
  • Ensures product quality, process capabilities, and cost improvements.
  • Works to implement Process Controls and conducts root cause analysis to identify ways to improve and maintain acceptable product quality and manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Works closely with production and facilities maintenance to troubleshoot and repair problems with production equipment.
  • Develops and implements capital improvement projects to provide cost savings to the process.
  • Uses lean manufacturing techniques to develop process improvements and optimal use of manufacturing resources.
  • Works with suppliers to ensure incoming quality, and equipment vendors to develop the most efficient use of capital.
  • Works closely with others as required to support new product introduction and product upgrades or cost improvement initiatives.
  • Develops standard operating procedures which direct the most efficient, cost effective and highest quality process.
  • Assists maintenance in defining predictive/preventative maintenance activities and schedules.
  • Works to ensure correct manufacturing costs and process routings.
  • Create and maintain a “Showcase” operation by implementing 6S practices, visual factory concepts, lean and empowered workforce, and overall world class operations.
  • Participates in studies to evaluate capacity and determine future operations expansion requirements based on planned manufacturing objectives.
  • Creates, reviews, and analyzes various types of manufacturing related reports and keeps senior management informed of significant activities and problems.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5 years’ experience in manufacturing and/or leadership production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with the implementation of Lean methods and processes
  • Experience working in a team environment focused production output while maintaining safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
