CNC MACHINIST
Job Description
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Precision Machinist to join our growing manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machinery to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components used in mission-critical applications.
The ideal candidate takes pride in producing quality work, enjoys solving mechanical challenges, and is looking to continue developing their machining skills in a fast-paced, technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Machine Setup & Operation
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines, including Tornos, Nakamura, and Star Swiss-style machines
Set up and operate bar feeders and related equipment
Perform tool changes, offsets, and machine adjustments as needed
Monitor machine performance to maintain efficiency, quality, and productivity
Identify and troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime
Blueprint & Print Reading
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
Understand and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Use specifications and drawings to ensure parts meet required dimensions and tolerances
Inspection & Quality
Inspect finished and in-process parts to ensure they meet tight-tolerance and quality requirements
Use appropriate precision measuring and inspection equipment
Make necessary machine or tooling adjustments based on inspection results
Maintain a strong focus on quality and producing parts correctly the first time
CNC Programming
Read and interpret CNC programs and tool movements
Understand G-code and M-code
Edit programs as necessary to maintain proper machine operation and part quality
Make program adjustments to improve machining performance when needed
Continuous Improvement & Team Support
Identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency, quality, and overall processes
Support day-to-day shop operations and production needs
Work collaboratively with machinists, engineering, quality, and production teams
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Ideal Qualifications
Previous CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
Experience with machine setup, operation, tooling, and offsets
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Knowledge of G-code and M-code
Experience inspecting tight-tolerance components
Swiss CNC experience is preferred, but candidates with strong CNC machining experience who are willing to learn Swiss machining may be considered
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
