MAIN PURPOSE: The Underground Survey Technician supports Eagle Mine Operations and Mine Technical Services Department, with a primary goal of maintaining mining efficiency and supporting underground operations. Ensure all mining voids are accurately surveyed and recorded, and that digital solids are created. Ensure accurate control is established to all development and production areas within the underground operation.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Perform daily surveys for all active headings and create daily cut sheets to support operations.
  • Perform calculations and monitor survey advance in relation to mine design.
  • Respond to survey requests as required for the mine and mill sites.
  • Perform stope surveys using CMS (Cavity Monitoring System) or drone and convert data to report final volume.
  • Mark up stope rings for production stope drillers, install survey controls, and record exploration drill hole locations.
  • Complete month-end measurements for underground areas and report out final volumes to the technical services department.
  • Complete month-end measurements for surface ore stockpiles and report out final volumes to the technical services department.
  • Complete quarter-end measurements of the surface waste stockpiles and report volumes to the environmental department.
  • Order and maintain underground survey equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying or similar education preferred. An appropriate combination of education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree requirements.
  • 1-2 years related experience in surveying preferred. Underground surveying experience preferred.
  • FAA registered drone license preferred.
  • Strong computer skills required. Previous experience with mining software and database management preferred. (e.g. Deswik, Leica Exchange, Skycatch)
  • Experience with a wide variety of Surveying instrumentation preferred.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision preferred.
  • Valid US driver’s license required.

HSEC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Report, as soon as practicable to their Manager any situations where HSEC requirements are not being conformed to within their work area
  • Avoid endangerment to any other person through any act or omission
  • Only use equipment you are trained to use and operate the equipment in a way that is safe, protects the environment and doesn’t cause undue community impacts.
  • Participate in HSEC training provided to them
  • Report all incidents; including but not limited to injuries, near miss, community interactions and impacts, environmental impacts, spills, unsafe work practices, etc.
