For additional information about our company, visit our website at www.fisherind.com POSITION SCOPEThe DOT Inspection Technician will perform comprehensive Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections across multiple locations. This role requires extensive travel to ensure vehicles and equipment meet federal and state safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in diverse environments. This position may include day or night shift work, extensive traveling, overtime, and weekend work. PRIMARY DUTIESConduct thorough DOT inspections and perform necessary onsite repairs to commercial vehicles, including trucks, trailers and portable crushing equipment to insure compliance with federal and state regulationsPerform safety assessments, brake tests, electrical lighting tests, and tire inspectionsDocument inspection findings accurately and complete all required reports and formsMaintain inspection equipment and ensure all tools are calibrated and in good working conditionStay updated on DOT regulations, industry standards, and best practicesTravel extensively, often on short notice, to various locations including remote areasPerform other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTSStrong commitment to safetyHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical training or automotive/mechanical certification preferredCDL is preferredValid driver's license with a clean driving recordPrior experience with DOT inspections or vehicle maintenance is highly desirableStrong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systemsExcellent organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work independently and handle multiple assignments simultaneouslyFlexibility to travel extensively, including overnight stays and varied schedulesGood communication skills and professionalismAbility to lift, bend, and operate inspection equipmentComfortable working in various weather conditions and environmentsAbility to stand for extended periods and perform physical inspectionsSelf-directed and can work independently with minimal supervisionExtended out-of-town travel, night shift, and/or weekend work is requiredAbility to pass a pre-employment drug test Fisher Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
