GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:The position of Refractory Crane Operator /Vacation Coverage Operator is responsible for allaspects of the refractory position as listed below. Complete understandingof the refractory area is essential in order to meet the productivity standardsas defined in the quality system.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Run the overhead crane.2. Assist the Refractory Shift Leader, as well as the Refractory Group. 3. Leader in day to day operations. 4. Know how to install refractory in all melt shop vessels, i.e. Electric Arc5. Furnace, AOD, Ladles, Slab and Billet Tundishes, Emergency boxes, 6. Operate all refractory equipment, i.e. Fork truck, overhead crane, jib cranes, mixer, tundish tilt dump, gunning machines. air rammers, vibrating sleds, vibrating forks, and any other equip.for refractory.7. Supervise contract labor force in the installation of above mentioned duties.8. Log all refractory consumables.9. Housekeeping10. Contact maintenance when needed to repair equipment.11. Cover shifts for refractory shift leader when needed.12. Follow all safety procedures.13. Perform other tasks as defined by the Refractory Shift Leader, Group Leader or Refractory SupervisorSUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Other duties as assigned2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:1. Minimum of a High School Degree or Equivalent (GED)2. Must work well with others3. Good Communication Skills4. Time Management skills5. Basic Computer skillsPHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:• Mobility in plant• While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.• The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds• Visual ability with or without correction• Communication abilities • Depth Perception for crane.• Ability to work a rotating shift ( rotating days to nights weekly or bi-weekly schedule)HEALTH AND SAFETY:1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations2. Follow Company safety rules3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:a. Safety shoesb. Safety glassesc. Hearing protectiond. Hard HatSome areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.f.fire Retardant clothingg. Acid PPE5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations8. Maintain a clean and safe work areaWORK ENVIRONMENT:1.
