Maintenance Manager
Job Description
Company: AAA Countertops (incorporating Elite Granite & Marble)
Location: Austin, TX — Onsite, full-time
Compensation: ~$100,000 annually all-in ($25/hour base + weekly performance bonus, quarterly bonuses, and profit sharing; overtime at 1.5x)
Schedule: Full-time, onsite, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM start, 50–55 hours per week (Saturdays rare)
Benefits: Company vehicle taken home with gas card; medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) with dollar-for-dollar match and no vesting period; paid vacation, sick time, and holidays
Quick Highlights- Own the entire maintenance function for a 20-year-old Austin stone fabrication shop — every machine, every system, yours
- A single-person department with real autonomy: you set the priorities and call the shots on how the equipment gets kept up
- Work on Park Industries CNC equipment — three routers, Saber Jet, Fast Back, Miter X — plus water recycling, compressors, pumps, and forklifts
- About 50/50 preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, with the PM schedule already built out in Maintain X
- Stone experience is a bonus, not a requirement — any CNC-equipped manufacturing background translates here
- ~$100K all-in with a company truck you take home, immediate 401(k) match with no vesting, and roughly $120/month medical
- Family-owned, non-corporate shop where the owners are on the floor and hire fast
AAA Countertops is a family-owned Austin original. We have been fabricating custom countertops and surfaces for over 20 years, serving homeowners and contractors across Central Texas from our southeast Austin shop and showroom. We carry Austin's largest selection of samples, full slabs, and remnants, and most installs are completed within five to seven days of a signed estimate. Elite Granite & Marble is now part of AAA Countertops, bringing two established stone operations under one roof with a bigger team and more capacity behind every project.
Behind the showroom is a working fabrication shop with about twelve fabricators running laser measuring and CNC stone cutting equipment. It is a fast-turnaround operation and an industrial environment by design — blue collar, hands-on, owner-led. Our company value is short enough to actually remember: we treat others as we would like to be treated. The people who do their best work here like that about us.
About the RoleWe are hiring a Maintenance Manager to own equipment and facilities maintenance end-to-end. This is a single-person department, and it is the seat the whole shop floor depends on. When a router goes down, the fabrication crew stops — there is no buffer and no second maintenance tech to fall back on. That is exactly why we pay well above the market rate for a technician and give this seat real independence.
Roughly half the job is preventive maintenance. The PM schedule, benchmarks, and equipment history are already built out in Maintain X, so you are inheriting a system rather than starting from zero. The other half is troubleshooting and repair across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including working with manufacturer tech support and doing complex repairs in-house instead of waiting on a service call.
You do not need to have worked in stone to succeed here. What matters is that you have kept CNC-equipped production equipment running, you have the range to handle all four disciplines without a crew behind you, and you stay ahead of problems rather than reacting to them. The person who held this seat for the last year and a half set a high bar. We are not looking for a copy of him — we are looking for someone who owns the work the way he did.
What You'll Do- Run and improve the preventive maintenance program in Maintain X across all shop equipment and facilities
- Diagnose and repair breakdowns on CNC routers, saws, and finishing equipment, at all levels of complexity
- Maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, water, and compressed air systems shop-wide
- Keep the equipment fleet running: three CNC routers, Saber Jet, Fast Back, Miter X, water recycling system, air compressors, pumps, and forklifts
- Work with manufacturer tech support to troubleshoot causes and perform repairs in-house
- Fabricate, weld, and build shop solutions when there is not a part to order
- Manage spare parts, vendors, and PM records so nothing gets rediscovered the hard way
- Handle general facilities maintenance for the building
- Keep the owners and shop management informed — and, ideally, never needing to ask
Required:
- 5+ years of hands-on maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment that runs CNC equipment
- Real working depth across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with the confidence to own all of it solo
- Ability to communicate clearly in English on safety-critical maintenance work with operators, ownership, and equipment vendors
- Able to reliably commute to an onsite role in Austin, TX (most of our team is within 45 minutes)
- Comfortable with a 50–55 hour week and a flexible, get-it-done schedule
Preferred (a plus, not required):
- Stone or countertop industry experience
- Park Industries equipment experience (Destiny, Saber, bridge saws)
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Experience building out or running a formal PM program
- Broader industrial maintenance background — food and beverage, metal fabrication, general manufacturing — with heavy equipment and CNCs
- You treat the equipment as yours and take pride in a fleet that runs
- You plan ahead — you would rather come in early and get in front of a problem than spend the day behind one
- You chase the intermittent fault or the pressure drop until you actually know the cause
- You are energized, not drained, by figuring out something nobody handed you a manual for
- You want to be part of the crew, not a specialist who stays in his lane
- ~$100,000 annually all-in: $25/hour base, paid twice monthly, with overtime at 1.5x
- $500 per week performance bonus when maintenance targets are met
- Quarterly bonuses and company profit sharing — about 25% of what most people here earn is incentive-based
- Company vehicle taken home, with a gas card and company card for job expenses (commute and work use)
- Medical through United Health, $1,500 and $3,000 deductible options, roughly $120/month for the employee
- Dental and vision with 75% covered by the company (about $8/month more)
- 401(k) through Prudential, dollar-for-dollar match up to 4%, immediate enrollment, no vesting period
- Two weeks paid vacation accrued, three weeks at 10 years
- 40 hours paid sick time on top of vacation, usable for personal or family needs
- 6 paid holidays minimum, typically 9 with discretionary days such as Christmas Eve and Good Friday
