About the Role:
The Landscape Technician - Crew Leader plays a pivotal role in overseeing and executing high-quality landscaping projects across various residential and commercial sites. This position requires leading a team of landscape technicians to ensure efficient, safe, and timely completion of tasks such as planting, maintenance, irrigation, and hardscape installation. The Crew Leader is responsible for coordinating daily work schedules, managing resources, and maintaining clear communication with clients and management to meet project specifications and expectations. This role demands a strong understanding of horticulture, landscape design principles, and equipment operation to deliver aesthetically pleasing and sustainable outdoor environments. Ultimately, the Landscape Technician - Crew Leader ensures that all landscaping projects are completed to the highest standards while fostering a productive and motivated team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscaping or a related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a landscaping crew.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and irrigation tools safely and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in horticulture, landscape technology, or related field.
- Experience with irrigation system design and repair.
- Knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices and native plant species.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with landscape design software or project management tools.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a crew of landscape technicians in daily landscaping operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Plan, assign, and monitor work schedules to optimize team productivity and meet project deadlines.
- Perform hands-on landscaping tasks including planting, pruning, mowing, irrigation system installation and repair, and hardscape construction as needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements, provide updates, and address any concerns or changes.
- Maintain and operate landscaping equipment and tools, ensuring proper maintenance and safe usage.
- Train and mentor crew members on best practices, safety procedures, and efficient work techniques.
- Collaborate with management to assess project progress, resource needs, and to provide feedback for continuous improvement.
