About This Role

The assistant kindergarten teacher collaborates with the lead teacher to prepare students for kindergarten. Key responsibilities include participating in a cohesive teaching team and managing daily classroom operations. To create an engaging and safe environment, teachers need to understand child development and effectively communicate with children and adults. Effective communication skills are essential to meet the needs of the classroom.



What You'll Do

  • Support the lead teacher in implementing the educational curriculum by participating in classroom activities aligned with early learning standards.
  • Engage children in individual and group activities that cater to their age and abilities, fostering social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents through informal discussions, keeping them informed about their child's progress.
  • Ensure the center's policies and state regulations are met and upheld.
  • Establish and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment by adhering to hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Continuously develop personal professional skills to enhance teaching quality and ensure a stimulating learning environment.


Requirements

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
  • A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.


Nice To Haves

  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification is a valuable asset to have.
  • A strong understanding of child development will make a significant difference in creating an engaging and safe learning environment.
  • At least 1 year of professional child care experience will be a plus in this role.
