A high school assistant track coach helps the head coach run practices, teach event techniques (like sprint, distance, jumps, or throws), track athlete progress and ensure safety during events. Qualifications typically require a valid state coaching authorization or athletic endorsement, CPR certification, and passing a background check. Key DutiesPractice Support: Lead daily workouts and condition team members under the head coach's direction.Event Specialization: Train specific event groups, such as hurdles, relays, distance, or field events (throws and jumps).Meet Assistance: Manage athletes during track meets, track stats, and coordinate event staging.Student Monitoring: Check academic eligibility and promote good sportsmanship. Requirements to CoachCertification: Most states require a specialized coaching authorization, teaching license, or safety certification.
