Relief Emergency Shelter Counselor

The Center for Youth: Started BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH. We partner with youth to realize their full potential, by creating opportunities, removing barriers and promoting social justice. Overview: Our free, confidential and voluntary, 13-bed shelter serves youth, 12-17 years old, for up to 30 days. Counselors provide nonjudgmental, individualized support to help youth reunite with their families or find alternative, stable housing.Schedule: Relief/ part-time position. Hours can include a combination of days, evenings, overnights and weekends.Responsibilities:Supervision of: wake-up, clean-up, daily chores and bedtimeDistribution of medications and appropriate documentationLiaison with Intake and Emergency Shelter Support (Counseling) teamsIndividual counseling and mentoringAfter-hour response, assessment and intake of youth in needDevelopment and supervision of social, cultural and recreational activitiesCrisis/conflict/prevention/intervention, response and interventionMaintenance of accurate and timely program recordsMaintenance of facility and groundsDaily meal planning and preparationRequired Qualifications: High School Degree OR GED OR equivalent combination / 1 year human service experience preferred A valid driver's license Skills: Counseling approaches and techniquesCrisis preventionBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office Pay Rate: $17 per hour *All Offers may be contingent on a Background check and Driving record & Automobile insurance that meets agency insurance carrier requirements.The Center for Youth Provides Equal Employment Opportunities
