Billing Generalist
Job Description
Apex Paramedics is seeking a candidate for the Billing Generalist position with exceptional clerical and administrative experience in a fast-paced medical billing environment! A highly qualified employee who has general medical billing experience including insurance verification (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance and supplemental plans), medical records, payments, strong verbal and written communication, high inbound call volume experience, collections, and other clerical duties. The Billing Generalist position will also be responsible for other tasks, including preparation of outgoing mail.
Who you will report to: Executive Director of Reimbursement
Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Office Location: 1873 W 52nd Ave, Denver, CO 80221
Disclosure: This is not a work from home position and will be required to work in office for all shifts.
- Adhere to federal HIPAA guidelines.
- Willing to take high-volume inbound calls, compassionately and empathetically, towards patients, patient representatives (power of attorney’s, legal guardians, and executive estate holders), insurance representatives, law offices, etc.
- Provide key details to patients about billing questions, including out-of-network claims, no contractual agreements with commercial insurance, knowledge of city, county, firehouse-based agencies, and federal guidelines, claim rejections, appeal process, medical records verification, and collections steps.
- Strong knowledge and skills with multiple computer systems and healthcare websites.
- Process outgoing mail, including patient invoices and sending HCFA claims to insurance using printers, stamp machines, and various envelopes.
- Ability to process patient and insurance payments.
- Flexibility with other various administrative/billing/clerical tasks to support fellow co-workers and leadership.
