New Car Salesperson

Position: New Vehicle Sales Consultant
Department: Sales
Reports To: New Car Sales Manager / General Sales Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, professional, and customer-focused New Vehicle Sales Consultant to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing customer relationships, selling new vehicles, generating new business, and providing an exceptional customer experience from the initial contact through delivery and continued follow-up.

Automotive sales experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train individuals who have a strong work ethic, competitive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a desire to build a successful career in automotive sales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet customers promptly and professionally and build rapport from the beginning of the sales process.

  • Conduct a thorough needs assessment to determine the customer's vehicle requirements, budget, and ownership goals.

  • Maintain strong working knowledge of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles, including features, technology, trim levels, incentives, warranties, and competitive advantages.

  • Perform professional vehicle presentations and demonstrations.

  • Conduct and accompany customers on test drives.

  • Follow the dealership's established road-to-the-sale process.

  • Work closely with sales management throughout the customer interaction, including early management involvement when appropriate.

  • Present purchase and lease options professionally and accurately.

  • Coordinate with the Finance & Insurance department to ensure a smooth transition and customer experience.

  • Prepare vehicles for delivery and provide a complete vehicle orientation at delivery.

  • Introduce customers to the Service and Parts departments to establish a long-term dealership relationship.

  • Maintain accurate and complete customer information in the dealership CRM system.

  • Follow up promptly with all internet leads, phone leads, showroom customers, unsold prospects, previous customers, and lease maturity opportunities.

  • Make outbound prospecting calls and actively develop new sales opportunities.

  • Build a personal customer base through repeat business, referrals, networking, and prospecting.

  • Maintain consistent communication with customers after the sale.

  • Work assigned CRM tasks, leads, appointments, and follow-up activities every day.

  • Maintain knowledge of current new-vehicle inventory and incoming inventory.

  • Attend dealership sales meetings and complete all required dealership and manufacturer training.

  • Maintain required Stellantis product and sales certifications.

  • Consistently work toward dealership goals for sales volume, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and individual performance.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the dealership and Stellantis brands positively at all times.

Performance Expectations

Successful Sales Consultants are expected to:

  • Meet or exceed monthly new-vehicle sales objectives.

  • Maintain strong CRM utilization and follow-up discipline.

  • Respond quickly to internet and telephone leads.

  • Generate appointments through proactive customer contact.

  • Develop repeat and referral business.

  • Maintain high customer satisfaction scores.

  • Complete required Stellantis training and certifications.

  • Demonstrate strong product knowledge.

  • Follow dealership sales processes consistently.

  • Maintain professional communication with customers before, during, and after the sale.

Qualifications
  • Previous automotive sales experience preferred, but not required.

  • Previous experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, or other sales environments is beneficial.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Self-motivated with a competitive and positive attitude.

  • Comfortable making outbound prospecting and follow-up calls.

  • Ability to learn vehicle technology, features, and product information.

  • Basic computer skills and ability to effectively use CRM and dealership software.

  • Ability to work evenings and Saturdays as required by dealership operations.

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to pass applicable pre-employment requirements.
