New Vision Behavioral Health is offering a hands-on internship opportunity for motivated Master’s or Doctoral students in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health fields. This internship provides direct experience delivering school-based behavioral health services to children and adolescents, with mentorship from experienced clinicians and the Clinical Director.
You will gain meaningful clinical exposure, accumulate supervised hours toward licensure, and develop practical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and care coordination.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial needs assessments with students, parents/guardians, and school staff.
- Assist in developing and implementing Individual Treatment Plans.
- Provide support for monitoring behaviors, emotional well-being, and progress toward goals.
- Help link families to community resources, medical providers, housing, and other supports.
- Participate in care coordination with schools, treatment providers, and external agencies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to client progress reports.
- Advocate for clients in areas such as education, legal, and family systems.
- Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and professional development activities.
- Other duties as assigned to support the school-based behavioral health program.
- Recently Graduated or Currently enrolled in Master's Level program in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a closely related behavioral health field.
- Strong interest in working with children, adolescents, and families in a school setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn electronic documentation systems.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Letter of recommendation from a professor or academic advisor.
- Prior experience or strong interest in motivational interviewing, de-escalation, conflict resolution, or trauma-informed care.
- Familiarity with community resources in the Mahoning Valley.
- Reliable transportation for travel to local schools (moderate travel required).
- Direct clinical experience in a school-based setting.
- Supervised hours toward licensure (LSW, LCSW, LPC, etc.).
- Mentorship from seasoned behavioral health professionals.
- Exposure to a wide range of client needs and systems of care.
