Job Summary
Reliable CDL-A Driver who possesses strong physical and mental stamina and thrives on the road to consistently ensure safe transport of equipment & materials; often requires loading or unloaded as needed including rigging at times. Home most evenings with heavy hauling opportunities available.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adheres to all NAMS policies and OSHA/MSHA/DOT rules & regulations
- Takes swift action to stop any imminent danger situations you may encounter
- Promptly reports all accidents and near misses, including minor first aid and property damages prior to end of shift;
- Performs DOT inspections; identifies and records any safety defects; recommends vehicles be taken out of service as appropriate
- Fully understands how to operate and safely drive assigned delivery vehicle(s)
- Ability to drive trucks with GVW over 26,000 pounds
- Ensures trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor unit
- Transports goods from place of origin to assigned destination
- Picks up loads; organizes goods in a logical manner
- Ensures contents are properly secured inside of the truck
- Safely and efficiently unloads goods
- Supports teams in the field as needed
- Obtains requires signatures to confirm delivery
- Communicates with team members as needed regarding timely deliveries
- Confirms contents of shipments match the manifest document(s)
- Ensures cleanliness of vehicle, interior and exterior
- Completes inspections; notify management of any major maintenance issues encountered
- Maintains detailed driving logs as required
- Tracks and reports working hours including job numbers
- Obeys all traffic laws and drive according to weather conditions
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Class A license required
- 2+ years' relevant experience with tractor trailer driving preferred
- Clean driving record
- Must pass background check plus DOT physical and drug tests
- Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor trailer
- Alert, focused, and detail oriented
- Physically and mentally fit
- Ability to operate a lift trucks, pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc
- Rigging experience a plus
- Team player
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
- High level of composure
- Customer-service mindset
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb stairs/ladders and use of hands
- Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk
- Extended periods of sitting, driving in all weather conditions (snow, heavy rain, high heat), and navigating heavy traffic or tight loading docks
- Exposure to hot/cold temperatures
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to travel independently to destinations far and near
