About This Role

A floater teacher plays a vital role in supporting and enhancing the educational environment in our centers. Their flexibility and adaptability enable them to step in for absent teachers, take the lead in daily routines, and ensure the safety and well-being of our youngest learners.



What You'll Do

  • Every day, leverage classroom activities and routines to foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical growth
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement a well-structured classroom environment, including the implementation of age-appropriate curriculum (lesson plans)
  • At all times, maintain the required adult-child ratios in the classroom
  • Conduct continuous supervision of children (remaining within sight and sound of children at all times)
  • Strictly adhere to classroom policies and procedures to guarantee the health and safety of children at all times
  • Swiftly report and document any symptoms of child abuse to the supervisor and child abuse hotline (as a Mandated Reporter)
  • Complete daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children
  • Support the functioning and monitoring of nutrition and food service (following CACFP guidelines)
  • Report any staffing and classroom concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner
  • Assist teachers in creating a classroom environment that encourages parent participation
  • Keep teachers, center management, and/or the Early Education Director informed of problems that arise in the classroom
  • Adhere to proper procedures when releasing children during pick-up time
  • Build positive relationships and collaborate with other staff to create and maintain a professional atmosphere
  • Cooperate with staff members regarding program decisions
  • Communicate with staff members regarding issues concerning children and/or their parent/legal guardian
  • Follow through with program decisions, plans, and expectations


Requirements

  • At least two (2) years’ work experience with preschool and/or infant/toddler in a licensed center
  • Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification
  • Strong verbal and writing skills and ability to write reports
  • Must be willing to work toward obtaining a Preschool or Infant and Toddler CDA within one year of employment.
