Childcare teacher

Caring for children at schools, businesses, private households, and childcare institutions is a critical aspect of this role. Responsibilities include dressing, feeding, bathing, and supervising play, as well as supporting emotional and social development.

• Emotional and social development of children is encouraged by fostering understanding and positive self-concepts.
• Children are cared for in institutional settings such as group homes, nursery schools, private businesses, or schools for the handicapped.
• Toys and play equipment are sanitized to ensure a safe environment.
• Discipline children and recommend or initiate measures to control behavior such as caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books.
• Parents or guardians are informed about signs of emotional or developmental problems in children.
• Children's play activities are observed and monitored.
• Records are kept on individual children including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
• Children are taught health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
