Hancock Aviation is a top-tier aviation services company specializing in the maintenance, sales, and management of private and corporate aircraft. We operate a growing maintenance facility in Baton Rouge and support a wide range of general aviation and turbine aircraft. As our operation continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Controller to build and own the company's finance function.
Job DescriptionThe Controller is responsible for all accounting and financial operations of the company, including monthly close, cash forecasting, job costing, inventory and work-in-process reconciliation, billing, sales tax compliance, and management reporting. This is a hands-on position reporting directly to the President. The company runs QuickBooks Online for accounting and eBis for shop management, and a significant part of the initial work is bringing those systems into alignment and establishing internal controls appropriate to the size of the business.
ResponsibilitiesOwn the monthly close and produce timely financial statements
Build and maintain a rolling thirteen-week cash forecast
Manage accounts receivable and collections, including progress billing on open work orders
Manage accounts payable, vendor terms, and purchasing controls
Reconcile eBis inventory and work-in-process to the general ledger
Produce job-level and department-level margin reporting
Administer Louisiana state and parish sales tax compliance, including taxability determinations on labor and parts
Process payroll and administer benefits in coordination with the executive assistant
Prepare billing allocations for managed aircraft and shared ownership programs
Manage banking relationships and support financing or acquisition diligence
Establish and document internal controls and accounting procedures
Support the President with financial analysis for operational and strategic decisions
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience (Required)
Five or more years of accounting experience with at least two owning a monthly close
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (Required)
Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling (Required)
Multi-state or multi-jurisdiction sales tax experience
Ability to establish process and procedure where none currently exists
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated accuracy under deadline
Good verbal and written communication skills
Aviation, MRO, heavy equipment repair, or job-shop manufacturing background (Preferred)
Work-in-process and job costing experience (Preferred)
CPA or CMA (Preferred)
Louisiana sales tax experience (Preferred)
Experience integrating a shop or ERP system with an accounting system (Preferred)
