Elementary Afternoon Childcare Teacher

Join our dynamic team as an Elementary After-Care Teacher and play a vital role in shaping the educational and social development of our young students.

This rewarding position requires a dedicated professional who can create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment that fosters growth, learning, and fun.

• Develop and implement engaging activities that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our elementary-aged students.
• Maintain a positive, respectful atmosphere that encourages socialization, creativity, and academic exploration.
• Provide individualized support and guidance to students, including homework assistance and quiet reading time.
• Ensure seamless transitions between activities, including snack time, outdoor play, and dismissal, to promote a sense of structure and routine.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's behavior, achievements, and any incidents that may arise.
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to maintain a well-organized and efficient after-care program.
• Monitor student attendance and assist with proper dismissal procedures to ensure a smooth closing process.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
• Patient and flexible individual who can adapt to changing situations and needs.
• Ability to manage a group of children and create a positive, respectful environment.
• Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting.

Hours:

Part-time, Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

We are a ministry of Centerville Baptist Church and have been one of the longest running programs in the Chesapeake area; 66 years and counting! It is our mission for all children enrolled in the program to know they are loved by God exactly as they are. We lovingly accept children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Centerville Baptist Children's Program offers preschool, kindergarten, and childcare for these ages. Every child is special, loved, and cared for by our dedicated and experienced staff.
