Job Description
Position Summary
Working under the direction of the Design Services Manager the focus of this position is to
provide drafting and design support for technology projects. Projects include Security, Audio,
Video, Lighting, Infrastructure and general construction elements. Key responsibilities include
development of submittal drawings, field ready installation packages, specifications documents,
and working with various subject matter experts and external partners to create and revise
technical drawings in a collaborative environment. This is a full-time position with excellent
opportunities for growth and advancement and is based out of our Newport, Kentucky office.
Company paid training is provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Create/update/edit CAD drawings and Revit building models using drawings and models
provided by design partners. - Interpret architectural drawings in order to determine measurements, details, and
placement of technology and infrastructure components.
- Preparing submittals and field release drawings using software such as AutoCAD, Revit,
Bluebeam, d-tools, Fieldwire/ Procore etc.
- Conducting basic site survey and field measurements of existing rooms to create simple
floorplans and installation detail diagrams when necessary.
- Work with peers in a collaborative design review process using agile principles.
Research products and components to determine details regarding fitment, mounting,
assembly to create details where needed and ensure relevant information is incorporated
into shop drawings and specifications.
- Assist with standards development and follow CAD and BIM standards and procedures
to ensure integrity of information and create greater clarity and uniformity in how
information is conveyed to stakeholders.
- Assist with maintenance and updates to design/estimation software and documentation
tools, libraries, and catalog data.
- Assist with bid takeoff and bid submittal preparation.
- Ensure that revision/submittal control/logging and revision management standards are
followed and files are organized appropriately by providing bulletin updates to the field
and to relevant stakeholders.
- Print and assemble sheet sets and other documentation to create field installation
packages.
- Demonstrate organizational skills by responding to changing deadlines and needs from
various team members to provide revisions, respond to RFIs and coding work to
appropriate project or job ticket.
- Compose, format, prepare, and distribute routine communications and materials using
typical Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Provide occasional field support for installation work as needed
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external
partners.
- Highly motivated and problem-solving attitude with strong sense of urgency in
responding to constituents.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with a strong work ethic and
commitment to quality.
- Demonstrated excellence in task management and ability to effectively manage multiple
tasks/ priorities simultaneously.
- Flexibility in completing any other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of experience with AutoCAD, Revit or similar as
well as excellent customer service skills. Must have a positive, problem-solving attitude with a
strong sense of urgency and high attention to detail. The ability to work independently as well as
a willingness to learn and take direction in a collaborative environment is a must. Applicants
must have reliable transportation.
- Previous installation or field service experience in AV/Telephony/IT infrastructure/low voltage along with experience in any of the following are a plus:
- Familiarity with BICSI and/or AVIXA installation standards
- Basic knowledge of commercial construction and construction trades
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam software for performing digital markup and design
coordination amongst team members
- Data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Experience with ConnectWise, Procore, Adobe Acrobat software
- General experience with 3D models and rendering
- Revit model management administration and maintenance skills
- Support development of block/model libraries

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer. Employees must
demonstrate the ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment ranging from 5 to 75 pounds.
Employees may be required to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, and lifts as necessary,
and manual dexterity is required for operating tools and equipment. Work may be conducted in
various environments, including office settings, outdoor locations, and manufacturing or
construction sites. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions when working
outdoors and to loud noises, moving mechanical parts, or other hazards commonly found in
manufacturing or construction environments. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
may be required.
This is a salary office-based position at our Newport office.
Occasional travel to jobsites and/or overnight travel may be required. Overnight travel is estimate less than 10%. Workdays are typically Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM-4:00 PM.
Occasional overtime may be required.
Occasional mandatory overtime, evening, and/or weekend work may be required.
