POSITION PURPOSE:
The Operations Team Lead is responsible for leading the daily flow of materials and processes in specifically assigned areas in warehouse and warehouse resources. This position will take the lead in overseeing the movement of all materials and other items between locations in a safe and efficient manner. The Operations Team Lead is a member of the Management Support Team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:- Follow safety policies and procedures (including OSHA regulations) ensuring maximum safety, security, and protection of all staff, customers and company assets for locations supervised. Ensure security procedures are in place to minimize internal and external shrinkage. Assist in responding to emergencies such as break-ins, fire, power failures, etc. Must assist in ensuring all staff abides by all Goodwill SOP, Policies, Procedures and Safety Regulations.
- Assist in ensuring staff promote and maintain safety, efficiency and cost-effective processes within their departments, including provision of excellent internal and external customer satisfaction by working cooperatively with all customers to promote the achievement of Goodwill’s mission. Be key individual in ensuring the maximum security and protection of company assets, including assisting in training staff in Risk management and Loss Prevention techniques.
- Know how to operate all warehouse equipment and assist in the training and/or certification of staff on how to safely use warehouse equipment.
- Assist the Warehouse Manager in maximizing the flow of all industry standard material handling methodology practices, policies and procedures, inventory control, goal achievement as well as controlling expenses.
- Assist with recycling/salvage operations, maximizing the value of materials while reducing waste. In addition to helping with preventative maintenance programs to protect Goodwill’s physical assets.
- Assist with creating and/or maintaining inventory control procedures such as maintaining cycle count accuracy and ensuring target demand is fulfilled. This includes creating and managing receiving policies and procedures.
- Assist in ensuring materials/merchandise have adequate storage by continual oversight of inventory while ensuring inventory is rotated to minimize spoilage based on FIFO method. In addition to verifying retail request verifications for movement of materials.
- Partner with Warehouse Manager to perform necessary personnel functions of supervised staff as determined by company policies and/or procedures including: staffing, training, scheduling, disciplinary/performance management functions, evaluations, record keeping, and time keeping.
- Communicates progress, problems, and new developments on a regular basis to Warehouse Manager and/or VP of Donated Goods Retail.
- Ensure maximum customer satisfaction. Work cooperatively with all consumers, community groups, co-workers, and subordinates to promote the achievement of the company mission.
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates (including nights and weekends).
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma and/or equivalent, 3-5 years of industry related experience with at least three in a management or supervisory capacity or any equivalent of education and experience is required. Experience and the ability to effectively execute supervisory tasks in a warehouse/operations environment. Ability to be a self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills along with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications knowledge.
