Job Overview:We are seeking a dedicated, passionate 6th-grade science teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of middle school science concepts and a commitment to creating an engaging, hands-on learning environment. This role focuses on helping students explore scientific ideas through experiments, critical thinking, and real-world connections.Responsibilities:Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with district curriculum and standardsTeach core topics such as life science, earth science, and physical scienceCreate a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and problem-solvingUse hands-on activities, experiments, and demonstrations to support learningAssess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as neededMaintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environmentCommunicate with parents/guardians about student progress and needsCollaborate with other teachers and staff to improve instructional practicesIntegrate technology into lessons to enhance student engagementParticipate in professional development to stay current with best practicesMaintain accurate records of student performance and progressQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related fieldValid teaching certification in Louisiana (or enrollment in an approved alternative certification program)Experience teaching middle school students (preferred)Strong knowledge of science concepts and the scientific methodAbility to create engaging, hands-on learning experiencesStrong communication and classroom management skillsAbility to adapt instruction for students with different learning needsPassion for helping students develop curiosity and a love for scienceDesired Skills:Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.).Familiarity with using interactive whiteboards, tablets, and other tech tools to enhance learning.Willingness to learn new technologies and innovate in the classroom to improve student outcomes.
