SummaryThis position is responsible for organizing and scheduling staff and directing the day-to-day operations of all rail functions. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality loading of vehicles onto out-bound trains and unloading vehicles from inbound trains through efficient productivity of the work crews. This position coordinates the activities of all rail crews under the direction of the Terminal Manager or Operations Manager to ensure a well-coordinated, productive, safe and damage-free operation.​​ Essential Duties and TasksResponsible for the daily scheduling of personnel to load and unload vehicles in a productive, safe, cost-efficient manner.Direct the facility's day-to-day activitiesOversee loading operationsOversee unloading operationsOversee receipt and scanning of vehicles into inventory systemOversee vehicle movementOversee vehicle Inspections and submittal of damages to proper platformsOversee daily safety briefingsAssign personnel to job locationsEnsure personnel have the support, tools and supplies needed for productionConduct audits and make suggestions for corrective actions as neededObserve and assist the crews where needed including driving vehicles to and from specified locations in the yard and on/off rail cars.Make appropriate changes in activities as needed.Daily communication with leads, other staff, and office personnel to determine staffing, supply and operational needs, and ensure these needs are met.Ensure new personnel receive the appropriate training.Responsible for the progressive disciplinary process in counseling, warnings, and other corrective action to ensure that a productive labor climate exists.Document performance issues and coordinate all corrective action with Operation and/or Terminal Manager.Responsible for safety programs to provide a safe, clean workplace for all personnel and within the regulations of local, state, and OSHA standards.Report accidents and injuries on appropriate forms and communicate to all appropriate customers/vendors and AWCT personnel as required.Understand and apply all AWCT, customer, AAR, safety, and quality standards/policies.Follow all safety guidelines to guarantee the job is done in a safe manner.Read, compare, and understand work orders, repair orders, purchase orders, purge sheets, and other documents to complete work.Attend monthly safety meetings.Other duties as assigned. Minimum RequirementsAbility to adhere to strict production, safety, and quality standards without varianceAbility to climb ladders and work at a height approximately 15-20 feet above the groundAbility to lift 55 pounds overhead frequentlyAbility to push, pull or carry up to 75 poundsAbility to work outdoors, 100% of the time, in all weather conditions (often extreme) for extended periodsAbility to stand, walk and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time for up to a 10–12-hour shift (sometimes split shift).Ability to get in and out of vehicle driver's door with minimal door opening clearanceAbility to use company-provided technological equipment to assist in job dutiesAbility to function effectively under pressure as crews work together on production standards to complete work safely and timely without incidentAbility to verbally communicate with others effectively; work as a team with good interpersonal skillsAbility to judge distancesMust have the ability to maintain a good sense of balanceAbility to climb up and down railcar ladders at a 90-degree angle multiple times per shift while maintaining 3 points of contact for safety.Ability to pass Driver's Safety Test, Rail Safety Test and Rail Loading/Unloading Ramp quiz with 90% or higherAbility to read and match numbers quickly and accuratelyAbility to differentiate between colors for vehicle identificationAbility to read and understand location cards and work ordersAbility to read, understand and interpret SDS manualsAbility to write, read, and comprehend basic EnglishAbility to drive standard and automatic automobilesAbility to follow directions, both written and verbalKnowledge of the use of hand tools (i.e., wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets, etc.)Must have a valid driver's license; good driving record with the ability to maintain the sameMust pass AWCT pre-placement background clearances including pre-employment drug screening, HPE/POET physical demand testingMust be able to obtain and maintain e-RAILSAFE/e-Verifile clearances as required by the AWCT customer or Equivalent.
