Job SummaryThe CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting personnel, materials, and equipment to and from shipyard and industrial project sites. This role supports ongoing maintenance, repair, and cleaning operations aboard U.S. Navy vessels and within shipyard facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience working in shipyards or industrial environments and must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and reliability.This position may require early morning, evening, and weekend work depending on project schedules.Must be located in the Puget Sound area: relocation is not available at this time.QualificationsValid CDL Class A driver's license with a tanker endorsement: requiredProven ability to operate vehicles safely and efficiently, including those used for tank and hazardous material transportExperience with manual transmission vehiclesFamiliarity with shipyard or industrial safety practices preferredAbility to understand work instructions and communicate clearly with supervisors and team membersStrong commitment to preventive maintenance and vehicle cleanliness (interior and exterior)Must meet minimum DOT requirements for CDL truck drivers:Valid non-commercial driver's licenseMinimum age 21 for interstate or hazardous materials transportOne (1) to two (2) years of professional driving experienceValid medical examiner's certificateNo active license suspensionsKey ResponsibilitiesTransport equipment, tools, and materials between SBSBTC facilities, shipyards, and job sitesMap out and adjust driving routes based on shipyard access, traffic, and weather conditionsSafely load and unload materials or equipmentMaintain accurate trip logs and vehicle inspection reportsComply with all company, DOT, and Navy base access requirementsReport any vehicle issues immediately and ensure timely maintenanceAdhere to company policies for safety, security, and environmental complianceMaintain a professional demeanor and communication with shipyard personnel and customersSkillsProven safe driving record with a strong safety mindsetKnowledge of Puget Sound shipyard routes and access requirementsFamiliarity with GPS systems and route planningPolite, professional communication style and teamwork attitudeCalm and focused under time pressure or in congested work areasWorking Conditions & Physical DemandsPhysically demanding, including frequent lifting, pushing/pulling, climbing, bending, and squattingWork performed in shipyard and industrial environments, both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditionsMust be able to climb on/off heavy equipment safely and follow all PPE requirementsOther RequirementsMust pass a pre-employment medical exam, background check, and substance screeningMust maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) throughout employmentMust be able to qualify for a DBIDS security badge for access to Navy facilitiesU.S. Citizenship (required for access to certain Navy work locations)Ability to read and understand technical English requiredParticipation in E-Verify is mandatory
