Recreation Therapist

Job Description:

• Responsible for planning and conducting group and individual recreation programs as assigned by the Director of Recreation
• Responsible for documenting program attendance and participation
• Facilitate independent activities for residents
• Assist residents to and from recreation programs
• All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Recreation
• Work as part of the care plan team in determining therapeutic objectives and goals.
• Create patient specific care plans
• Other duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must have Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field
• Minimum of 2 years working in healthcare setting with related populations
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services
• Must be available for full time (37.5) hours between two locations, Middle Island & Central Islip
• Working knowledge of physical, psycosocial and behavioral needs of population
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
