Position Summary
The Server-Prep 1 is responsible for supporting daily food service operations by assisting with food preparation, cooking, serving, and kitchen maintenance. This role helps ensure meals are prepared accurately, safely, and on schedule while maintaining high standards for food quality, cleanliness, customer service, and compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, team-oriented, and committed to delivering an excellent dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Assist with food preparation according to planned menus and school orders.
- Perform cooking duties while following recipes, menus, and production schedules.
- Prepare and serve food according to established portion guidelines.
- Follow cooking instructions carefully to ensure consistency and quality.
- Monitor food preparation, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
Kitchen Cleaning & Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Sweep and clean kitchen floors throughout the day and at closing.
- Wash dishes using dishwashers and three-compartment sinks as needed.
- Stock dishes, utensils, and kitchen supplies.
- Ensure all work areas meet company and state health standards.
Inventory & Equipment
- Receive food deliveries and inspect products for quality, quantity, and proper temperatures.
- Store food products correctly and follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures.
- Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Communication & Compliance
- Communicate effectively with school personnel, supervisors, and team members.
- Report any health, safety, or sanitation concerns immediately.
- Follow all company policies and food safety procedures.
Professionalism
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and adhere to company dress code standards.
- Work scheduled shifts reliably and punctually.
- Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous food service or kitchen experience is helpful but not required.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, menus, and instructions.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to quality, cleanliness, and teamwork.
Work Environment
- Commercial kitchen and school food service environment.
- Frequent exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
- Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Moderate noise levels during daily operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to use hands for food preparation and kitchen tasks.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work safely around kitchen equipment and food service operations.
