Advanced Metabolic Care + Research (AMCR) is hiring a Nurse Practitioner to join our growing outpatient endocrinology team in Escondido, California.

This is an excellent opportunity for an NP with experience in endocrinology, diabetes care, primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine who is interested in developing deeper expertise in diabetes, obesity, thyroid disease, and metabolic health.

You’ll manage your own patient panel while working closely with experienced endocrinologists, diabetes educators, dietitians, and other members of our multidisciplinary care team. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with advanced diabetes treatments and technology, including continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), insulin pumps, insulin therapy, and GLP-1 medications.

Your Role

As an Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner at AMCR, you will evaluate, treat, educate, and follow patients with a range of endocrine and metabolic conditions.

Manage Endocrine and Metabolic Conditions
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, medical histories, and physical examinations

  • Diagnose and manage diabetes, obesity, thyroid disorders, and related metabolic conditions

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical goals

  • Prescribe and manage medications, including insulin and GLP-1 therapies

  • Monitor clinical progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate

  • Provide ongoing chronic disease management and follow-up care

  • Develop and maintain a patient panel supported by AMCR’s established referral network

Incorporate Diabetes Technology Into Care
  • Interpret continuous glucose monitor data and use it to guide treatment decisions

  • Assist patients with insulin pump initiation, adjustment, and ongoing management

  • Help patients understand and effectively use diabetes devices and technology

  • Utilize EMR data and clinical tools to monitor progress and identify opportunities for intervention

  • Coordinate with remote patient monitoring and virtual care resources when appropriate

Educate and Empower Patients
  • Teach patients and families about diabetes, obesity, and chronic disease management

  • Provide education on medications, insulin administration, devices, and monitoring

  • Counsel patients regarding nutrition, physical activity, and sustainable lifestyle changes

  • Help patients establish realistic treatment goals and understand their care plans

  • Support long-term adherence and self-management

  • Build trusted relationships with patients managing complex and lifelong conditions

Work as Part of a Multidisciplinary Team
  • Collaborate with endocrinologists, diabetes educators, dietitians, medical assistants, and care coordinators

  • Participate in team-based treatment planning and case discussions

  • Consult with physicians regarding complex or higher-risk patients

  • Coordinate care across clinical disciplines to improve the patient experience

  • Contribute ideas to strengthen AMCR’s evolving model of endocrine and metabolic care

Support Clinical Excellence
  • Maintain timely and accurate EMR documentation

  • Follow clinical, regulatory, and compliance standards

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives

  • Support outcome measurement and clinical reporting

  • Stay current with advances in diabetes, obesity medicine, endocrinology, and metabolic care

What We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

  • Current national Nurse Practitioner certification

  • Active California Nurse Practitioner license and prescriptive authority, or ability to obtain them

  • At least six months of experience caring for patients with diabetes

  • Clinical experience in endocrinology, primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills

  • Excellent patient education and communication abilities

  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative outpatient care team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous endocrinology or diabetes-focused experience

  • Experience managing patients on insulin therapy

  • Experience prescribing or managing GLP-1 medications

  • Familiarity with continuous glucose monitors

  • Familiarity with insulin pump therapy

  • Experience with remote patient monitoring or virtual care

  • Interest in obesity medicine and metabolic health

  • Interest in value-based care, quality improvement, or innovative care delivery

Compensation

The anticipated base salary for this position is $135,000–$160,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities.

The position also includes opportunities for performance-based incentive compensation.
