(HCTC) is seeking a full-time Fixed Wireless Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support the broadband network serving communities throughout the Texas Hill Country.This is a hands-on field position for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with modern wireless broadband technology, and seeing the direct impact of their work. Today, we provide high-speed broadband and telecommunications services throughout the region while continuing our cooperative tradition of investing in the communities we serve.Our employees perform meaningful work that directly supports the communications needs of their friends, neighbors, local businesses, and communities.What You'll DoAs a Fixed Wireless Technician, you'll install and maintain the wireless and telecommunications infrastructure that delivers reliable broadband service to HCTC customers.Your responsibilities will include:Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair point-to-multipoint (PTMP) and point-to-point (PTP) fixed wireless radio systemsInstall and maintain customer-premises radio equipment, cabling, power, grounding, and network connectionsPerform site surveys and signal testing to determine service availability and appropriate installation solutionsAlign, test, and optimize wireless links for signal quality, reliability, and network performanceDiagnose RF interference, signal degradation, connectivity issues, and equipment failuresInstall and troubleshoot customer LAN and Wi-Fi networks, routers, switches, Network Interface Devices (NIDs), Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), and other customer premises equipment (CPE)Troubleshoot wireless, fiber, copper, Ethernet, and customer-premises connectivity issuesPerform RF/Ethernet cable testing and fiber testing and splicing as requiredPerform preventive maintenance and repairs on fixed wireless sites and supporting telecommunications infrastructureInstall and maintain equipment on towers, poles, and other elevated structures and operate bucket trucks and other company equipment as requiredComplete service orders, trouble tickets, test results, equipment records, and other required field documentation accurately and on timeCommunicate professionally with customers regarding service issues, installation requirements, and resolutionsAssist with fiber, copper, and other Outside Plant (OSP) installation and maintenance activities as operational needs requireParticipate in the after-hours on-call rotation and respond to network or service emergencies as neededFollow HCTC safety procedures and applicable telecommunications, electrical, and construction standardsWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentTwo years of RF technical education or equivalent relevant work experienceTwo years of experience installing and maintaining RF, fixed wireless, broadband, or telecommunications equipmentWorking knowledge of RF fundamentals, basic electricity, Ethernet cabling, fiber optics, telecommunications, and IP networkingUnderstanding of switching and routing conceptsAbility to use telecommunications test equipment, hand tools, and locating equipmentStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in the fieldAbility to read and interpret maps, work orders, staking sheets, equipment documentation, and technical instructionsProfessional communication and customer service skillsValid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under HCTC's automobile insurance requirementsPreferred ExperienceExperience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:Tarana and Ubiquiti fixed wireless systemsCalix systemsPTP and PTMP wireless networksRF signal analysis, antenna alignment, and link optimizationEthernet and Power over Ethernet (PoE)LAN/WAN networking, Wi-Fi, switching, and routingFiber optic testing and splicingDC power systemsTelecommunications Outside PlantClimbing and Field RequirementsThis is an active field position, and working at heights is an essential function of the job. The successful candidate must be able to:Climb communications towers and poles and work safely at elevated heightsOperate aerial lift/bucket equipmentWork outdoors in varying weather and field conditionsPerform the physical activities necessary to install and maintain telecommunications equipment, including standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pullingOccasionally lift and/or move up to 75 poundsObtain and maintain required pole-climbing and tower-climbing certificationsObtain a Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License within six months of hire if not already licensedWork after hours, weekends, and on-call assignments when requiredReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Work ScheduleThis is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Ingram, Texas. The normal work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, although hours may vary based on operational needs.
