Job Description
Purpose of Position:
The Project Environmental Engineer ensures sustainability and resilience of infrastructure through
large-scale testing, field studies, and numerical simulations. This position works between the
natural elements and built environments and would address environmental issues such as waste
disposal, soil improvements, site remediation, waste handling, and permitting and regulatory
coordination. This position also provides materials testing and construction inspection as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare and deliver Phase I ESAs
  • Prepare and deliver Phase II ESAs
  • Field investigations consisting of:
    • Construction monitoring including instrumentation
    • Soil and groundwater sampling
    • Asbestos and Lead-based Paint Assessments
    • Remediation system monitoring and reporting
  • Conduct/direct measurements and sample collection including documentation of field tasks, data
    tabulation, and report preparation.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work including scheduling of field activities and procurement of bids
  • Make engineering calculations using standard formulas and computer software.
  • Provide construction inspection and materials testing as needed.
Physical Demands of Position

While performing the duties of this position the employee may be required to sit, stand,
walk, and use hands and fingers. The employee occasionally must reach above and below
shoulder level to be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs and perform some physical labor

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position will split his/her time between the administrative office and working in the field. It may
require traveling up to 50% of the time.

Job Specifications
  • Accredited degrees in either:
    • BS Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Geotechnical)
    • BS Geology
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in the field or related field
  • Wisconsin and Illinois regulatory consulting experience a plus.
  • Professional credentials or ability to obtain professional credentials within 1-2 years preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat required
