Job Summary

Harborview Health Center West Altamonte is seeking an experienced, organized, and dedicated Human Resources Manager to join our leadership team. The Human Resources Manager will oversee the facility’s human resources operations and help create a professional, supportive, and employee-centered workplace.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, regulatory compliance, personnel-file management, benefits administration, and staff retention. This position works closely with the Nursing Home Administrator, Director of Nursing, and department managers to ensure that qualified employees are recruited, supported, and retained to provide exceptional care and services to our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, applicant screening, interviews, reference checks, background screening, and pre-employment requirements.

  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, personnel-file completion, and employee follow-up.

  • Maintain complete, accurate, confidential, and survey-ready employee records.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and healthcare regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor employee credentials, licenses, certifications, background screenings, health screenings, and required annual documentation.

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding company policies, attendance, performance expectations, workplace conduct, and employee concerns.

  • Manage employee relations matters, including complaints, investigations, conflict resolution, counseling, corrective actions, and terminations.

  • Partner with department managers to complete employee evaluations, performance improvement plans, talent-development plans, and succession planning.

  • Coordinate employee benefits enrollment, eligibility changes, leaves of absence, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and other employment-related programs.

  • Assist with payroll, timekeeping, missed punches, employee-status changes, and personnel-action documentation.

  • Conduct routine HR audits to identify missing documents, expired credentials, compliance concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop employee-engagement and retention initiatives that promote teamwork, accountability, recognition, and a positive workplace culture.

  • Prepare HR reports related to vacancies, turnover, retention, staffing, attendance, and compliance.

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive employee and organizational information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Home Administrator.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of human resources experience required.

  • Human resources experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care community, rehabilitation center, or healthcare setting is strongly preferred.

  • Previous HR management or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage-and-hour requirements, and workplace investigations.

  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding, personnel-file management, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR compliance.

  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic human resources, payroll, scheduling, and applicant-tracking systems.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred but not required.
