Reports to: Respiratory Director/ Maintenance Director/Housekeeping Director
Main FunctionsResponsible for ensuring maintenance of budgets for Nursing Supplies, House Drugs, Equipment Rental, Tube Feedings, and Respiratory Supplies.
Ensures provision of adequate supplies at all times for optimal delivery of Nursing Care.
Responsible for ordering of and the return of, when necessary, Durable Medical Equipment.

When needed, may have to go and purchase supplies. May provide coverage for transportation coordinator.
Receiving of nursing supplies, Tube Feeds and helping put supplies away on the unit.
Keeps Central Supply in a neat and orderly fashion, with special attention to New York State Department of Health and OSHA regulations.
Understands and complies with the policy and procedure concerning confidentiality.
Monitors the expiration dates for all items in the stock room and on the units.
Fosters positive working relationships with nursing, therapy and other staff.

Maintains appropriate inventory:
Keeps DONS and/or ADONS informed of various par levels on a weekly basis. Advises DONS and/or ADONS immediately if an inadequate situation may develop.
Monitors usage of supplies for excess and inappropriate usage.

Assures provision of adequate supplies to deliver quality care to all residents/patients:
Responsible for ordering all nursing supplies, tube-feed supplies, nursing equipment, and assures receipt of supply items.
Researches supply items and cost factors as requested.
Supervises stocking and inventory of central supply on a monthly basis.
Acts as a liaison between facility and central supply.
Identifies any problems with the purchasing/inventory.
Assures that all nursing supply storage areas in the facility are maintained in a clean organized order.

Assures provision of adequate Durable Medical Equipment to all patients/residents:
Researches all cost factors related to the Durable Medical Equipment.
Identifies any problems in the purchase or ordering of equipment to the Administrator, DONS, or ADONS as necessary.
Maintains files as necessary on all rental equipment.
Assures return of broken equipment for repair and return of equipment when no longer needed.
Meet, check in and put away the monthly Respiratory order.
Keep the Respiratory Supply room neat and organized.

Follows up and monitors systems in place, regarding Purchasing, Inventory, Appointments, and Transportation
Changing or setting up disposable Respiratory equipment to be changed (i.e. suction canisters, LVN, SVN, inline suction catheters and yankauers)
Check and refill Oxygen Tank cabinet twice daily to maintain equipment for resident needs

Maintain stock in resident care units to provide bedside providers with immediate needs to provide care
Will have no more than six episodes of call-ins and/or tardiness in a given year. Provides physician documentation when out of work for 3 or more days as requested by ADONS.
SafetyDemonstrates good safety judgment as evidenced by:
Maintains an awareness of OSHA Blood borne Pathogen Regulations and facility policy and procedures related to isolation precautions.
Reports all incidents immediately to Supervisor and completes an Accident and Incident report form.
Maintains an awareness of the physical environment and reports immediately to Supervisor any potential safety issues.
Maintains an awareness of environmental standards and complies by keeping immediate work area clean and free of clutter and potential hazards.
Understands and complies with all policies and procedures with special attention to: Fire and Disaster Plan, Evacuation, Internal Disaster Codes, Code Plaid Procedure.
