Order Management & Estimating Specialist (Corrugated Packaging)
Job Description
Picture a day where you move seamlessly from a client call to Amtech order entry, then walk a job across production scheduling so the right machine is queued up on time. You’re tracking stock sheets, arranging cutting dies and printing plates, and confirming quotes that help customers green‑light new projects. Throughout the day, you’re the steady voice on the phone, the sharp eye on the numbers, and the connector between Sales, Design, the plant floor, and the customer.
As our Order Management & Estimating Specialist, you’ll keep multiple accounts in motion, ensure accuracy on every new item, and protect timelines by coordinating materials, costs, and delivery tracking from start to finish.
What you’ll do- Create and maintain customer orders in the Amtech system; coordinate production scheduling to align jobs with plant capacity.
- Order stock sheets from suppliers and arrange cutting dies/printing plates as needed.
- Process purchase orders, coordinate accounting credits, and assist with billing.
- Develop and deliver price quotes for new orders; collaborate closely with Sales, Customers, and Design to validate specifications and ensure accuracy on all new items.
- Monitor inventory levels for warehouse items and stock boxes; provide samples and maintain customer files.
- Work with plant production personnel to select appropriate machines for manufacturing boxes.
- Read and interpret tables to estimate the cost of each production operation.
- Determine pattern positions on paperboard blanks to minimize waste and streamline machine operations.
- Calculate total materials needed and material cost, considering quantity, quality, box style, packaging, and delivery rates.
- Set delivery times, oversee tracking, and ensure due dates are met.
- Estimate manufacturing costs for boxes made from alternative materials.
- Partner closely with customers to ensure project quality from concept through delivery.
- Adhere to company policies; consistent attendance is essential.
- College degree or equivalent; 2–5 years of related industry experience and/or training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Language: able to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations; skilled at writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; confident presenting to managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Math: comfortable with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions; fluent working with numerical concepts.
- Reasoning: adept at defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing sound conclusions.
- Technology: proficiency with Amtech software; Internet Explorer; Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Other: strong organization, effective multitasking, acute attention to detail, professional phone presence, and the ability to quickly build relationships.
- Overtime required at times, including occasional nights and weekends.
