Manager, Strategic Finance
Job Description
Riverstone Logistics (RLX) is a big and bulky supply chain powerhouse delivering seamless final mile, middle mile, warehousing, fulfillment, and storage solutions through a nationally integrated platform.
Founded in 2017 by five partners who believed logistics could be built around something bigger than moving freight, we began with furniture delivery and grew into a nationwide provider serving complex supply chains across the United States.
We are a purpose-driven company. We exist to use our God-given talents and opportunities to love our neighbors, serve our communities, and improve our industry. That purpose shapes how we lead our teams, how we partner with our customers, and how we take ownership of every delivery.
Our people, who we call "Extra Milers", bring genuine integrity and care to every mile. If you lead well, communicate with clarity, and want your work to mean something, we want to meet you. If you're looking for a place where people genuinely matter, you've found it.
Position Summary:
The Manager, Strategic Finance works directly for the Chief Financial Officer on a portfolio of accounting, revenue, and analysis projects. The role has no direct reports to start and does not own a standing department. It exists to take on the work that matters most in a given quarter, solve it, and put a durable process behind it.
Typical assignments include technical accounting research and memos, revenue and billing investigations, financial modeling and business cases, reporting and dashboard builds, close and process improvement, system implementation support, and acquisition diligence and integration workstreams. The role works across NetSuite, billing and settlement platforms, and operational data sources, and partners closely with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Software Developers/IT, Sales, and Client Success.
This role is built for someone who came out of public accounting or consulting, liked the variety and the pace, and wants to stay on a project long enough to see the operational result rather than delivering a file and moving on.
How the Role Works:
Assignments come from the CFO and are scoped before work begins, including objective, deliverable, timeline, and definition of done
Two to four active workstreams at a time, spanning accounting, revenue, and analysis
Work is delivered as a finished product: a documented model, a written memo, a reconciled schedule, or a process that runs the same way every period
Some projects transition to the team that will own them going forward, and others stay with this role as a recurring responsibility, so the job builds a base of ongoing work alongside new assignments
Active projects and recurring responsibilities are reviewed with the CFO to reset priorities and keep capacity available for new work
Influence comes from credibility and clear analysis rather than position, and this role moves work forward across departments without direct authority
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Accounting and Close
Research, conclude, and document technical accounting positions, including revenue recognition and purchase accounting for completed acquisitions
Build and rebuild reserve and accrual methodologies, including supporting schedules and documentation for external audit
Reconcile and clean up aged balance sheet accounts, then build the recurring process that keeps them clean
Support period-end close cycles and lender reporting with schedules, roll-forwards, and written commentary
Revenue and Billing
Analyze populations of disputed, uncollected, and aged invoices across all business segments at RLX to assess collectability and revenue quality
Leverage internal systems (NetSuite, billing/settlement platforms, operational data) and client-facing user interfaces (customer AP portals, deduction/chargeback platforms, credit tools) to research and validate disputed, short-paid, or aged invoices
Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring billing, invoicing, or contract issues driving rejections, disputes, short-pays, or write-offs, then implement the upstream fix in partnership with Operations, Billing, and IT
Validate contracted rates and terms against what is actually billed and collected, with particular attention to large national retail clients and other Fortune 500-scale accounts
Quantify revenue-at-risk and prepare data-supported conclusions and recommendations regarding collectability for Finance and Accounting leadership
Analysis and Decision Support
Build financial models and business cases for pricing, capital spend, facility decisions, and new client programs
Build and maintain analytical models, aging schedules, and dashboards tracking DSO, aging buckets, dispute drivers, and collectability by client, client segment, and business line
Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reporting and executive-ready summaries for the CFO, executive team, board, and lenders
Investigate variances to plan and explain them in rate, volume, and mix terms
Support acquisition diligence, quality of earnings review, and post-close integration workstreams
Process and Systems
Document and continually improve standard operating procedures across finance and accounting processes
Support ERP, billing, and reporting system changes through requirements definition, testing, and validation
Identify and implement automation in recurring reporting and reconciliation work
Maintain clear documentation of methodology, data sources, and definitions used in analysis, consistent with RLX's governed analytics standards
Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4+ years of experience in public accounting, consulting, or a project-based finance or accounting role, or a combination of public accounting and industry experience
Demonstrated record of turning an ambiguous request into a scoped, finished, documented deliverable
Working knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition, and of month-end close mechanics
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (advanced formulas, arrays, large dataset management) and demonstrated financial modeling ability
Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and billing or settlement platforms
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines and shifting priorities
Ability to get work completed across departments without direct authority
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and the board
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Confidentiality and sound judgment in handling client and financial data
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
CPA
Public accounting or advisory experience, including audit or transaction services for privately held or private equity backed companies
Experience in third-party logistics, transportation, freight, or supply chain industry
Experience supporting acquisition diligence, purchase accounting, or post-close integration
Experience with SQL and/or BI and analytics platforms such as Power BI, Domo, or Snowflake
Prior experience supporting revenue assurance, credit risk, or investor/financial reporting functions
