Team Member - Janitorial Reset
Job Description
As a Team Member, Janitorial Reset, you'll be responsible for resetting our cafe to a consistently clean, organized, and welcoming standard. You will deep clean and maintain espresso equipment, reset the cafe floor and guest areas, manage trash and recycling, and keep our space running to the high standards our guests expect. This role is essential to the daily rhythm of the cafe — working before, between, or after service to make sure every shift starts from a clean, fully reset space.
Key Responsibilities
Espresso & Equipment Cleaning
• Deep clean and reset espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment to company standards
• Backflush and descale espresso machines per manufacturer and company guidelines
• Clean and sanitize steam wands, portafilters, group heads, and other bar tools
• Wipe down and sanitize all coffee bar surfaces, machines, and small equipment
Facility Reset
• Sweep, mop, and spot-clean floors throughout the cafe
• Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, counters, and guest-facing surfaces
• Wipe down windows, glass doors, and display cases
• Reset furniture, signage, and displays to standard layout
Waste & Supplies
• Empty and replace trash and recycling bins throughout the cafe
• Break down and remove cardboard and other recyclables
• Restock cleaning supplies, paper products, and janitorial stations
• Report low supplies, equipment issues, or maintenance needs to management
General
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and cleaning protocols and checklists
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to label instructions
• Maintain a consistent, high standard of cleanliness across shifts
• Work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Prior janitorial, custodial, or back-of-house cleaning experience a plus
• Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment and/or espresso machines a plus, or willingness to learn
• Strong attention to detail and pride in consistent quality
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
• Reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs.
• Ability to push/pull up to 50–100 lbs. (e.g., mop buckets, trash bins)
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods
• Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals, following all safety guidelines
