We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Director to lead engaging recreational and social programs within our skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in nursing home environments, or long-term care settings, with a strong focus on enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful activities. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with seniors and individuals with disabilities. The Activities Director will coordinate a variety of programs tailored to residents’ needs.

Duties:

  • Plan, Develop, Organize, Implement, Evaluate. And direct the activity programs of this facility.
  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Review department policies and procedures, at least annually, and participate in making recommended changes
  • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.
  • Develop individualized activity plans that accommodate residents’ cognitive abilities, mobility levels, and personal interests.
  • Collaborate with staff members such as caregivers, nurses, and social workers to ensure activities support overall care plans and enhance residents’ daily experiences.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to promote independence and engagement.
  • Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while maintaining flexibility for residents’ preferences.
  • Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activity department.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator concerning the operation of the activity department
  • Be able to assist and coordinate family visits.

Develop a monthly activity schedule for residents, which include resident outings, regularly scheduled group activities, and in room activities for bed bound or isolated residents. Encourage residents to participate in self initiated activities including hobbies, crafts, and reading. Assist with the overall supervision of and management of the activity staff.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home settings; minimum 1 year experience in recreational therapy or senior care preferred.
  • Strong understanding of caregiving principles related to aging issues and working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage residents effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience assisting residents with ADLs and managing activity schedules efficiently.
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of residents through meaningful engagement and social interaction. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
