Payroll Specialist
Location: Madera, CA
Pay Rate: $27.00 / hour

About the Role
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Madera, CA. In this role, you will manage end-to-end payroll processing, maintain accurate employee records, and ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong problem-solving and mathematical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all non-exempt and exempt staff.
- Review timecards, paid time off (PTO), and Paid Sick Leave (PSL) requests for precision and compliance.
- Prepare, audit, and distribute direct deposits and physical checks.
- Calculate standard withholdings, garnishments, tax deductions, and wage adjustments.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain confidential payroll files, tax records, and system databases.
- Generate payroll reports for management and support auditing processes as needed.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of dedicated payroll processing experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of California labor laws, wage/hour regulations, and tax compliance.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional numerical accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of handling sensitive data confidentially.
