About This Role

KOCO Child Care Center in East Hampton is seeking to hire a Director to train with the current Executive Director in preparation for her retirement. KOCO is a large, not-for-profit center licensed for 151 students, and employs about 35 staff. Candidates should have background in the following areas: financial, nonprofit, marketing, personnel, families & students, curriculum, facility repair/maintenance, community relations. This position requires tact, discretion, good judgment, ability to multitask, positive attitude, resilience, enthusiasm and energy. Upon successful completion of training (6 months minimum), the Director will have an opportunity to assume the Executive Director role.



What You'll Do

Financial

maintaining fiscal responsibility, budgeting, payroll, taxes, bank statement reconciliation, accounts

receivable, accounts payable (Quickbooks Desktop, Brightwheel App);

communicating with & providing reports to auditor to prepare annual audit


Nonprofit

allocating resources efficiently while upholding Mission Statement;

following chain-of-command to communicate with Board of Directors;

attending monthly board meetings;

utilizing nonprofit resources effectively (Pro Bono Partnership, Tech Soup, CHEFA, etc.)


Marketing

maintaining website, social media platforms;

publishing monthly newsletter KOCOmotions;

advertising in local venues

Personnel

hiring, onboarding, training, managing and evaluating staff;

supervising junior administrators;

observing individual staff as needed;

addressing staff concerns with respect and discretion, in a timely manner;

keeping CT OEC BCIS and CT OEC Registry current;

scheduling staff to maximize both program quality and financial stability;

processing weekly payroll (ADP)


Students

supervising curriculum (Pinnacle, Get Set for School, Early Learning Matters, Investigations);

coordinating Visiting Curriculum (classroom visitors);

providing appropriate classroom environment (storage, ordering, distribution);

observing classrooms (SACERS, ECERS, ITERS);

observing individual students as needed

Families

maximizing enrollment;

communicating policies in a clear and helpful manner;

providing support and guidance in a tactful manner;

addressing concerns respectfully and effectively;

providing ECE resources to families


Facility

tasking Operations Supervisor with health & safety assignments;

meeting health & safety standards set by state and local agencies (East Hampton Fire Dept., Chatham Health District, CT Office of Early Childhood);

engaging outside trade professionals (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.) as needed


Community

attending monthly meetings of Early Childhood Council, Early Childhood Consultation Partnership;

acting as a resource for local early childhood professionals;

representing KOCO during special events (Trunk or Treat, etc.)

Education, Experience & Certifications

minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field (Master’s preferred);

minimum of 2 years experience in child care administration;

completion of CT OEC-approved Director’s Course within 1 year of hire;

certification in FA-CPR, medication administration, CT OEC Head Teacher within 6 months of hire
